This eagerly awaited recording from Vasily Petrenko and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra follows their critically acclaimed performance of Elgar's Symphony No.1. BBC Radio 3 raved that Petrenko ''gets Elgar… absolutely understands the beating heart of it.'' More emotionally complex and ambiguous than the first, Elgar's Symphony No.2 seems to sense the apocalyptic events that would be unleashed just three years later.
