    Well she's done it again! Another terrific recording by Ms Kilgore.
    As in her first remembrance of Maxine Sullivan the tunes on this collection vary from familiar standards to seldom heard pieces. As others have pointed out Rebecca has a knack of finding these "old gems" & breathing new life into them. It only seems fitting that Rebecca chose to remember Maxine Sullivan with two gorgeous volumes of music. She and Maxine have a number of things in common. Becky's voice is sweet. Her phrasing & sense of time is impeccable & there is a no nonsense approach to the presentation of the music. One can actually hear all the lyrics.A warm,simple & straight-ahead delivery.
    These are all variables that Maxine practiced in her singing.
    17 tunes make up this volume & as in the first volume the highlights for me were the songs that I knew nothing about; had never heard before. The absolute stunner for me was "Between 18th And 19th On Chestnut Street". This is a 1940 gem of a tune that Maxine apparently revived. Other highlights are: "Don't Let It Bother You","Good Morning Life" & My Very Good Friend, the Milkman". There are also a host of standards that are wonderfully done as well with some great verses included. I would also be remiss if I didn't mention clarinetist Bobby Gordon & his trio. Chris Dawson continues to bounce & pop on piano along with Hal Smith on drums. This is just happy, joyfull music. Another brilliant performance by Rebecca Kilgore; one of the best around.
