Preston Shannon is one of the driving forces in today's blues scene in Memphis. BB King, Rufus Thomas, Ann Peebles, Al Green and of course also the Sun Studios kind of indicate the importance of Memphis as a fantastic source for the best blues an soul. And Preston (a regular in BB King's on Beale Street) delivers it all with his powerful voice and his inventive guitar playing. The first 7 songs on Dust My Broom were recorded in Memphis, paying tribute to Elmore James with guest slide players Kirk Smitheart and Michael Aarons. The last 5 songs were recorded with Dutch top band Fat Harry and the Fuzzy Licks for Radio Rijnmond, Rotterdam.
