    I've played guitar with Smith a number of times, and this guy is the real deal. We play acoustic stuff–bluegrass, Americana–together, and I do not exaggerate when I say that he is a virtuoso. I didn't think I would ever say this about anyone, but he can hold his own with the likes of Tony Rice. Then I heard him play the blues, and I was dumbfounded. Just listen to some samples here, and you'll understand why. But like the consummate musician he is, he knows how to showcase without merely showing off his instrumental gifts. What's more is that he also demonstrates his song-writing talent, from traditional to hot-stomping boogie.

    If you are a musician, you'll learn some lessons here. For everyone else (as well as the technical listener), you're going to thrust this CD into your friends' hands and say, "Listen–now!"
