Coined ' a blues-afflicted, roadhouse-rock group'. This is likely the most eclectic blues CD I've ever heard. It is a very delightful blend of blues, folk, classic and southern rock. The original songs offer great lyrics and instrumentation, and fine vocals. Tracks change between driving electric blues and rock, and tasty acoustic ballads. The addition of a nice violin and female vocals on a few tunes mixes it up even more, The variety of sound styling makes for enjoyable listening and offers something for everyone.

BIO: The Maynard Brothers Band based in Johnsonville, NY, is a blues-afflicted, roadhouse-rock group. As their name indicates, the band consists of the brother tandem of Erv and Jeff Maynard anchored by percussionist Harold "Clutch" Reiser "the brother-from-another-mother", and new arrival (but old friend) Gary "Zeke" Brajczewski on leads and general guitar disturbance. Erv pens most of the music and lyrics and handles all the good guitar work. Brother Jeff "The Throat" Maynard belts out the vocals and plays bass. Jeff's job is to interpret Erv's lyrics, take ownership and then smack people in the head with his power and honesty. Harold is a drumming nut capable of any time signature, break, percussion nuance and hole filling. And Zeke,… well Zeke is the guy that stabs you in the brain with his repertoire of blistering, funky, emotion-fueled leads. The Maynard Brothers Band has been an entity in various iterations since 1972. The boys (without the "Connecticut Buzzsaw" - Zeke) grew up playing the local bar scene in their hometown of Johnsonville, NY. In '83, Erv joined the United States Air Force and played with various musicians all over the globe. In Erv's absence, Jeff and Harold honed their talents with several different musical combinations, together and apart, and maintained a nice simmering boil, anticipating Erv's return from his Air Force commitments. Zeke, too was simultaneously spreading the virus that is his guitar bombast around the world. He toured The continental U.S. and mainland Europe with a traveling roadshow that featured his antics and prowess to the delight of many and the consternation of few. He has many stories. And, he will gladly tell them to you. If he has a roll of duct tape and catches you in a sturdy chair, be prepared to be a captive audience to his twisted history. The Maynard Brothers Band's self titled first CD was released in 2000 through PacificSol. That effort was Zeke-less, but still managed to set some good standards. Enough so to invoke one critic to say that he was "Coming quickly to the realization that the band actually had some real talent." (we love that one). Another critic, Kenneth Bays, the senior editor for Blues Revue magazine stated (and we concur) that "…the Maynard Brothers Band's first release is a keeper, and they're an act to keep an eye on."
