Kate Royal - A Lesson In Love (2011)

'A Lesson in Love', is presented in four chapters: Waiting, Meeting, Wedding and Betrayal. It follows a young girl’s relationship from her first kiss and the thrill of blossoming love to the joy of love fulfilled. There is disappointment and anger when the relationship breaks up, leading to eventual acceptance, and even a glimpse of optimism about the possibility of future love. Royal brings a youthful approach along with an "unutterably beautiful timbre" to repertoire that includes William Bolcom’s cabaret-inspired Waitin, Schumann’s Jemand, Debussy's Apparition, Frank Bridge's Love went a riding, Richard Strauss's Hochzeitlich Lied, Britten's O waly Waly and Copland's Heart we will forget him.
