Johnny Rawls is one of the last of the great soul singers left. He is constantly reinventing himself to deliver a modern version of soul music while staying true to his roots. Produced by multiple Grammy winner Jim Gaines and backed by his long time studio group, The Rays, Rawls has delivered a classic album in Waiting For The Train. His last release, Tiger In A Cage, was #1 on the Living Blues Radio Chart and stayed at #1 for 14 weeks on the Roots Music Soul Blues Radio Chart. His many awards include 2010 Blues Music Awards Soul Album of the Year, 2016 Living Blues Male Artist of the Year, Living Blues Southern Soul Album of the Year three times as well as Downbeat Magazine Critics' Best Albums of the Year List three times.

Once again, Johnny Rawls is backed by the Rays, Bob Trenchard's tightly wound studio band. Their sound, equal parts deep-soul rootsy and contemporary infused with pop/jazz,compliments Rawls' own aesthetic, which has always borrowed equally from the old school soul tradition and more mainstream pop influences. It is clear, though,that Johnny Rawls continues to honor soul music's heritage in a way that both embraces that heritage and looks forward.

On his seventh album for Catfood, Johnny Rawls continues with the casual brilliance he displayed on his previous ones. As always, his soul-blues singing holds a singular combination of gentlemanly authority and painfully felt vulnerability on top-grade original tunes and choice covers. Supported by his superb band called the Rays.
