No one would say at first listen, but Johnny and the Rivals, with that image of elegant mobsters that explode in the promotional images, is a Quartet of blues rock that actually comes from Switzerland.
"Lemme Tell Ya!" is his album debut and, apart from twelve courts of breaded over, we can find collaborations of luxury as the guitarist Vinnie Moore ("Tell Me"), Justina Brown vocalist (absolute protagonist with his voice in "This Ain t Mississippi" and which also reinforces the choruses of "Help Me" and "Like a Real Man") and Marco Pantherra harmonicaof's globe-trotting "Steam Train" railway wagon.
We are before an album that starts in key very rocker, with "Black Cadillac", but that immediately shows us the real Johnny Fontane and the Rivals, more inclined to the blues. From the more classical "Hands of You", which makes an appearance a wind section, until the most canonical blues-rock of other subjects such as "Help Me", the vacilona "Like a Real Man", the quasi heavy "Garymental", which I personally brings to memory the missing Gary Moore, or "Not Close Enough", compositions come to almost all corners of style, albeit obliquely.
I guess that it is difficult to innovate in a style like the blues and "Lemme Tell!" already is not surprising in that sense. However Yes have Johnny Fontane and company with this dozen of issues is a very enjoyable songs collection and which will surely like to anyone who is a supporter of the style.
