Il conseguimento del II premio (I non assegnato) al Concorso dell’ARD di Monaco nel 1993 e l’immediato invito del Cidim a far parte dei gruppi di punta scelti dall’Italia per Nuove Carriere nel 1994, promuovono ben presto il gruppo a un livello di visibilità e qualità artistica salutate unanimemente da vivissimo interesse. Il Bibiena da allora effettua centinaia di concerti in Italia, Francia, Austria, Germania, Sudamerica e molti altri paesi.
Discograficamente il Quintetto debutta nel 1995 con Flamen (dall’omonimo brano di Ivan Fedele dedicato al Bibiena), contenente tra l’altro l’integrale di Ligeti, per Ermitage. Seguono ben presto l’integrale per fiati e pianoforte di Poulenc e i Quadri per Agorà; numerose le partecipazioni radiofoniche, tra cui spicca quella ai Concerti del Quirinale di RadioTre nel 2004.
Dal 1993 il Quintetto Bibiena propone con successo la sua peculiare strategia artistica: una combinazione di repertorio puro, “nuova musica” e arrangiamenti, alcuni dei quali pensati per un impiego più teatrale della loro professionalità, che li vede anche nella veste di attori: famose le loro versioni per quintetto recitante di Pierino e il lupo di Prokof’ev, della Boite à joujoux di Debussy, del Racconto del controfagotto di Chenna.
Scrivono brani originali per il Quintetto Bibiena, che ne cura la prima esecuzione, compositori come Ivan Fedele e Matteo D’Amico, Carlo Boccadoro e Alberto Colla, Riccardo Nova, Andrea Chenna, Nicola Campogrande, Giovanni Sollima, Stefano Bellon. Il gruppo invita fin dall’inizio importanti “ospiti”: collabora con Campanella, Dalberto, Lucchesini, Cominati; con l’Orchestra d’Archi Italiana e Mario Brunello; con la cantante Luisa Castellani; col percussionista indiano B. C. Manjunath.
