Grinder’s third and final full-length release pretty much continues Grinder’s style of thrash, though it kind of separates itself from the first 2 albums. ‘Nothing Is Sacred’ combines the atmospheric parts of ‘Dawn for the Living’ with the more straightforward thrash aspect of ‘Dead End’. The production is perhaps a bit better on this album than the 2 others, but it still sounds very similar to ‘Dead End’. Grinder - ‘Nothing is Sacred’ is a pretty typical thrash album from the early nineties, but the band still manages to keep their own sound.

The vocals are really cool in my opinion, though some might need to get used to Adrian Hahn’s style. The best way to describe the vocals would be Ozzy Osbourne in a thrash band. Sometimes Adrian Hahn sounds exactly like Ozzy, for example on the tracks ‘Pavement Tango’ and ‘The Nothing Song’. On some tracks like ‘None of the Brighter Days’ the vocals are kind of operatic, while on tracks like ‘Hymn For the Isolated’ and ‘NME’ the vocals are harsh and heavy (just like on the two first albums).

The guitar work is solid and well thought out. The solos are great, though not extremely technical. The riffs are good and fast on some tracks, but can too be slow and really heavy. The guitar duo Andy Ergün and Lario Teklic really did a tremendous job with the guitar work on this album.

The bass is great, and this is one of those albums where you can really hear the bass. Just listen to the track ‘Hymn for the Isolated’ right before and during the guitar solo. ‘Nothing is Sacred’ is the only Grinder album where Adrian Hahn isn’t playing the bass while singing. The bass is done by new member Andi Reichert, who does a great job.

The drumming is tight and done by Stefan Arnold. It is heavy and extremely fast. The only thing that bothers me is, that the drums can be difficult to hear at some points, especially during guitar solos.

The lyrics are great and concern some pretty interesting subjects. Especially the song ‘NME’ (Enemy), dealing with the fall of the Berlin wall and the thoughts of ‘what will happen now’. The song ‘Superior Beings’ deal with inequality and the: ‘I am better than you’ - mentality of upper-class people.

This is certainly an album worth getting your hands on, if you are a true thrash fan. It might not be easy to find, but it is certainly the easiest of the Grinder releases to find compared to the other albums.
