Born in Bulgaria, Graziela Valceva Fierro graduated as an opera singer at the Sofia Music Academy, a Master in the High School of Music in Lausanne and perfected at the Academy Boris Christoff in Rome with the bass Nicola Ghiuselev.
At 23 years old, she began in Sofia with the role of Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus by Strauss) directed by Plamen Kartalov and under the direction of Jost Meier. Then she was hired at the Sofia’s Musical Theatre. In 1997 she made a grand entrance to the theater in the mythical role of the Widow of “Zorba the Greek”, including at the Theatre of Jorat in Switzerland. During the 2006-07 season, she integrated the soloist troupe of the Lausanne Opera House.

Graziela Valceva participated in festivals as Lanaudière, Orange, Tibor Varga, Arena Béziers, Varna Summer, Sofia Musical Weeks, Einsiedeln and cricket. She also sang in Geneva, Bern, St. Gallen, Chur, Paris, Vichy, Guebwiller, Stuttgart, Linz, Parma, Florence, Trapani, Porto, Montreal, Ottawa, Boston, Philadelphia and New York. On stage, she sang the Verdi’s roles Azucena (Il Trovatore), Ulrica (Un Ballo in Maschera), Maddalena (Rigoletto), the Rossini’s roles Isabella (L’Italiana in Algeri) and Tancredi (Tancredi), but also Carmen (“Carmen” by Bizet), Princess of the Bouillon (“Adriana Lecouvreur” by Cilea), Jocasta (Oedipus Rex) by Stravinsky and Lucretia (The Rape of Lucretia) and Baba of the Turc (The Rake’s Progress) Britten. She was directed by conductors like Armin Jordan, Peter Maag, Bruno Fernandes, Bruno Campanella, Evelino Pido, Arie van Beek, Jonathan Darlington, Jirjis Belohlávek and Emil Tabakov.

The mezzo-soprano is also an intimist singer. Regularly she gives recitals by the concerts of Montbenon in Lausanne. In 2007, for its twentieth anniversary, the International Guitar Festival of Fribourg commanded a work especially for her, written by the Swiss composer Jost Meier. The concert was recorded by the radio station Espace2.
In oratorio, she performed with the same delight the baroque, romantic or contemporary repertory, including “Gloria” by Vivaldi, “Petite Messe” by Rossini, “Stabat Mater” by Dvorak “Requiem” by Verdi and “Le Laudi” by Suter, which Radio Suisse Romande also recorded. Graziela Valceva Fierro has won several awards: the competition “New Voice” in Sofia sponsored by the Bulgarian National Television, the international competition of the European Institute in Florence, the international competition “Giuseppe di Stefano” in Trapani, the competition “Francisco Viñas” in Barcelona, ​​the Cultural Bourse by Leenards Foundation and Bourse of the Circle Romand of Richard Wagner, twice.
