Mountain Fever Records is pleased to announce the release of a stellar new album from the Deer Creek Boys, Midnight & Dawn, this week! The band will celebrate their release as an official showcase artist at the International Bluegrass Music Association's World of Bluegrass conference in Raleigh, NC. The Deer Creek Boys were originally formed in 1999 when brothers Justin Tomlin (guitar) and Jason "Tater" Tomlin (bass) and best friend Cason Ogden (mandolin) started picking locally in their native Amherst, Virginia. After individual stints with Nothin’ Fancy, Junior Sisk & Rambler's Choice, and the Bluegrass Brothers, the young men decided to re-group, adding Andy Lowe (banjo). The result is a powerful blend of energetic picking, hard-hitting harmonies, and top-notch songwriting. Midnight & Dawn is the band’s sophomore release for Mountain Fever Records and includes 12 tracks with half of those written by members of the band.

John Lawless of Bluegrass Today contributes liner notes to the project and sums up the ensemble nicely: “Nothing brings young people into bluegrass like younger artists, and these boys have the look, the flair, and the sound to be one of the most dynamic acts in our business. Listen to this record and you’ll hear Jason’s plaintive and emotive singing, something probably borned into him (as Melvin Goins would say), further enhanced by several years of singing with Junior Sisk. You’ll also hear Justin’s more contemplative vocal delivery and fiery guitar licks, next to Cason’s note-perfect baritone and clever mandolin, and Andy’s rock-solid banjo. Pay attention to The Deer Creek Boys. They are going places.”
