Clark Hamington - Living the Simple Live (2019)

How multi-faceted Pop can be mixed with electro is demonstrated by the Lausanne musician Organ Mug in his EP "Here & There". Free and casual, the artist varies with his most striking elements, the rich and haunting voice and the electronic sounds, riddled with industrial sounds or computer voices. Then again a completely unfamiliar and crystal clear naturalness. The result is a work that is committed to no convention and extremely entertaining lives.

With the opener "Secret Island", you immediately feel transported to an island that turns its endless laps on a slow-moving record and already it changes into the interior of a data highway of minimalistic, electronic sounds. "Esteban" nerves through the bulk of the electronic spectrum. When listening to the song "In A Passenger Seat", not only is the text torn out of control. The piece is distorted and dystopian. I fall into the electronic mire and suddenly hear oriental sounds or even a saxophone, surreal and shrill. They are moods of a world like ours could be. Apparent harmony collides powerfully with ultimate chaos. A futuristic horror scenario packed in tones. "Caballus'" Conclusion is lacking a general interpretation. For me, it's the moment when the machines finally rule the world.

"Here & There" is a jumble of no rules with just one constant - the electronics that pull through, telling the story of subtle destruction. I love it when music can tell me stories.
