Contemporary soul singer Christopher Williams released his CW debut in 1987. Four years later, he acted in New Jack City; his single from the soundtrack, "Dreamin'," turned gold and reached number one. 95's Not a Perfect Man brought a new direction for Williams; his first album as sole executive producer uses elements of reggae, R&B, hip-hop and country. After six years, he returned to the music scene with Real Men Do on the indie label Renegade, in 2001. It received a glowing, flattering review in Ebony Magazine that summer.
