We are in 1990: it's been more than three years since the original ANGE's line-up has been re-activated, creating the album "Sève Qui Peut" (1989). Following the public and critical acclaim, the tour is a huge success. It's the moment when the band's charismatic singer decides to release a new Christian DECAMPS & FILS album, eleven years after "Le Mal D'Adam" (1979). "Juste Une Ligne Bleue" is dedicated to the Franche-Comté region and the famous blue line separating the sky from the Vosges mountains. This new masterpiece is faithful to the poetic world typical of ANGE's lyricist. Most of the band's musicians are present here: Claude DEMET, Daniel HAAS, Robert DEFER… And of course Tristan DECAMPS ! It's a sign of the times: Christian's own son collaborates to this album. No doubt the young voice heard on "Révèle La Lumière" is full of promises for the future ! One more essential re-release by Musea… Four years later, the "Nu" album presents a concept wandering between love, life, old age and death based upon a flawless combination between poetic songs, grating humor and Chistian DECAMPS' great sensitivity. His jewel-shaped words acquire all their force with the music composed by the author and sublimated by his collaboration with the guitar-player Jean Pascal-BOFFO and his band (Bass player Thierry SIDHOUM and drummer Hervé ROUYER). "V'soul Vesoul V'soul" (1995) is a live album in which tracks from Christian DECAMPS solo albums alternate with ANGE pieces ("Ode A Emile", "Capitaine Coeur De Miel", "Crever D'Amour", "Fils De Lumière"…). During the Nineties, Christian DECAMPS & FILS took up the angelic torch, producing albums such as "Nu" (1994) and "Troisième Etoile A Gauche" (1997). This one introduces a new line-up (Hassan HAJDI replacing Jean-Pascal BOFFO), that would become the new ANGE two years later. As you can guess, here's a real angelic masterpiece, as legitimate as its followers. This excellent opus showcases the rocker "Quasimodo" and the epic-suite "Opéra Cosmique", without forgetting that the CD is almost full with more than 70 minutes of high-quality music. Now that ANGE is more alive than ever, its lead vocalist and charismatic leader can afford to release really personal solo albums. The intimist "Murmures…" (2004) leaves logically more space for the bawdy but how refined poetry the Father is so renowned for. Instrumental parts are mainly played by former or present musicians of ANGE: Tristan DECAMPS, Daniel HAAS, Hassan HAJDI, Benoît CAZZULINI, Thierry SIDHOUM, Claude DEMET or Guénolé BIGER. First proposed by the fan-club Un Pied Dans La Marge for their members, this album is now available as a Musea release. You therefore have no more excuse to miss "Le Grincement De La Chaussure Gauche Du Contrôleur Du Paris-Bâle" ! Departure from the Troyes railroad station… That won't lead to the Trojan war anyway !

Christian Decamps:

French composer and vocalist CHRISTIAN DECAMPS is first and foremost known for his long tenures with legendary French outfit Ange, starting in 1970. From the release of their debut album "Caricatures" in 1972 until they disbanded in 1995 they established themselves as a household name in French rock, selling several million albums and performing an untold number if live concerts.

Decamps managed to find the time to issue a one solo album during the years when Ange were at their most active though, a production he made with his son Tristan issued under the moniker Christian Dйcamps et Fils in 1979 named "Le mal d'Adam". When Ange for one reason or another started winding down their band activities towards the late 1980's Christian would revive this moniker for the albums "Juste une ligne bleue" in 1990 and "Nu" in 1994, and when Ange officially folded in 1995 it became more and more clear that Christian Dйcamps et Fils first and foremost was a direct continuation of Ange. Three more albums would see the light of day in the second half of the 90's: "V'soul Vesoul V'soul" in 1995, "Troisiиme йtoile а gauche" in 1997 and "Poиmes de la Noiseraie" in 1998. When Dйcamps aquired the official rights for the name Ange in 1999 this solo project ceased to exist though, reviving his old band with the band members he had steadily used throughout his solo career for the past decade.

An epilogue would appear in 2004 though, with the album "Murmures…". This production was distinctly different in sound from anything Ange had made, and represents a purebred solo effort.

Besides these more or less true solo albums mention above, Dйcamps have two additional solo albums to his name. The first of these, "Merlin et les Dragons", was a joint effort with Michel Rubini issued in 1992. Then in 2008 Decamps released what was his first solo effort credited solely to himself with the ambient, new age tinged CD "Psychedelice".

While Decamps has an extensive range of solo ventures behind him, it will be a matter of discussion as to how many of them that should be regarded as true solo albums and how many that are Ange productions issued under an alias. What is certain is that many of these efforts will be of interest to the dedicated Ange fanbase.
