Just like with the third release of Godiva, it has taken this ‘Global Warning’ record of the English band Burn an awful long time to reach the mailbox of the Lords Of Metal premises. The album was already release in England in May 2007 and I don’t have any further information about any other European releases dates. By the way, ‘Global Warning’ is already the third album of this English outfit, because quite a while ago already they’ve thrown ‘So Far, So Good’ (1993) and ‘Spark To A Flame’ (1995) on the market.

I don’t have a clue why it took them so long to get this third album released, but when listening to the material on offer here, it’s very obvious that we are not dealing with rookies here. Let’s concentrate on the eleven tracks that are to be found on the record. The first thing that strikes me is the absolutely fabulous guitar sound and the producer that was responsible for this deserves a big compliment! Because of this great sound the beautiful riffs and ingenious solos of tandem Phil Hammond and lead guitarist Julian Nicholas are displayed very prominently. Also lead vocalist Jeff Ogden showcases his vocal talent with his very big and powerful voice, which is suited perfectly for the melodic rock (metal is a better word for it) that Burn is playing. On top of that the song material appears to be of outstanding quality and therefore it may be crystal clear that Burn has created one hell of a good record with this ‘Global Warning’. This fact is shown prominently in the very catchy ‘Dangerous Times’, the speedy ‘Meltdown’ (in which Jeff reminds me somewhat of Gary Hughes), ‘Named That Way’ and the ballad ‘Pray For Rain’, but also the rest of the songs is absolutely worthwhile checking out.

I for one will certainly go out and see whether I can still get my hands on their first two album, because this wets a man’s appetite!
