    Released in April 1971 (on Australian Infinity label) the Blackfeather debut LP is undoubtedly one of the best heavy progressive records ever! Massive and inventive guitar riffs, powerful and fluid solos, very solid rhythm section, catchy and adventurous melodies and clean and very dynamic production - that's why it's an album which can't be missed! It is worth noting that the recorder and tambourine parts were played by a young Bon Scott - the future AC/DC singer! Unfortunately, soon after the album release the Blackfeather line-up has been changed and the band began to play a much more lighter and bluesier material. This CD has been carefully remastered from the original, analogue source and now sounds better than ever!

    ================================================================================

    Early seventies Australian rock band. Got into this back then when getting into heavy metal, guitar based rock. Replaced my LP with the CD version about 10 years ago, an improvement. But really, the standout track for me as an aspiring guitarist was Mangos Theme, an instrumental written and played by guitarist John Robinson. I loved the thick distorted guitar sound, the middle eastern type scales (everyone else was using blues scales) and the propulsive bolero type backing behind it, which ended up with strings, including a great violin solo, in the second half. Still use some of the licks in my playing to spice up my own blues licks. Magnificent achievement Mr Robinson, and ahead of your time! I just wanted to place that on the record. This is one of the best Australian rock albums i ever heard. It takes you by surprise on every track. It includes a song called "Seasons Of Change" that has been recorded by Bon Scott's pre AC/DC band in 1970, Fraternity. Forget about Olivia Newton-John, Bee Gees or (mainly) Silverchair, this is real aussie rock and roll stuff!!
    The Australian Blackfeather Began Playing their Unique Style of Guitar-powered Psychedelic Blues-rock in the Sydney Area in 1970 and their Energetic Live Performances Soon Catapaulted them Into the National Spotlight. "at the Mountains of Madness" is the First of Three Full Length Albums and by Far their Best.
