This album contains the music he was commissioned to write for artist Rob Ward's "Crimsworth" installation. This comes in the form of two lengthy tracks. Well, sort of. As far as I can tell the CD contains just the one track, repeated twice, but given the ambient subtleties of that track it's very difficult to confirm this. The track(s) see Bill taking a completely ambient approach for the first time. Over the course of 31 minutes sounds fade in and out of hearing and occasional hints of melody appear only to vanish before they develop into something substantial. The only obvious comparison that can be made is to the work of Brian Eno - on Land, perhaps, or Thursday Afternoon. At times you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference, and the layout diagram used by Bill to arrange his sound field is more than a little reminiscent (in form, not content) of that shown in the sleeve notes for Eno's Thursday Afternoon…~ amazon
