Both the recordings on this CD are live performances. His Chopin Op. 28 here, is amongst one of the most creative performances I have heard in the many interpretations of this work. I'd like to mention that in the notes are reproduced parts of Claudio Arrau's discussions on the performance of both these works as held with Joseph Horowitz. These can be found in the latter's book "Arrau on Music and Performance", available from Dover Books. Also note that Schumann's 5 posthumous etudes in this live performance are placed in a different order than on his 1970 Philips recording. The order of both is reproduced in the notes.
