Aged just 19, Angus Gill is somewhat of a veteran in the performance and songwriting stakes. His live show is a dynamic collection of catchy, humorous and poignant songs to make you laugh, cry and think. “I like to be a showman,” says Gill. “One of the primary reasons that audiences come along to the shows is to be entertained and it is my job to make sure they are having a great time.” Whether he’s delivering a heart wrenching ballad from a stool, dashing through the audience while soloing over a Robert Johnson song or rapidly reciting ‘The Auctioneer’ at 250 beats per minute - there’s something for everyone at an Angus Gill show.

Gill was a crowd favourite at the recent Tamworth Country Music Festival, and a grand finalist in the Australia’s biggest and longest running talent competition Toyota Star Maker, where he performed to over 5,000 people in Bicentennial Park. He also attracted the attention of superstar Guy Sebastian, who tweeted, “Forget Duncan, I’d love to have a beer with Angus.”

Taking inspiration from the legendary Steve Earle, Gill spent a week in July 2015 learning from the multiple Grammy award winner, in upstate New York. He is a three-time graduate of the CMAA Academy of Country Music, the only intensive country music business and musicianship course of its kind in the world. Gill has toured and/or co-written with some of Australia’s finest musicians and singer-songwriters, such as Sara Storer, Troy Cassar-Daley, The Black Sorrows, Glenn Shorrock (Little River Band), Rick Price, Adam Harvey and Gina Jeffreys. He has also co-written a music education anthem with Harry Angus (The Cat Empire) and John Foreman, which was sung by over half a million primary and secondary school students nationwide.
