this is PIANO IS EVIL, a live piano endeavor based on my 2012 kickstarter-funded album “Theatre is Evil", which i recorded with a full band: Michael McQuilken on drums and sequencing, Chad Raines on synths, guitars and sequencing, Jherek Bischoff on bass and string/horn arrangements (and a bunch of fantastic horn and string players local to melbourne, where we recorded the album).
the 13 songs that you find here in stripped down piano+voice incarnation owe a huge debt to the full-band arrangements of those musicians, and to the producer/egineer of "Theatre is Evil", John Congleton. PIANO IS EVIL was recorded over one week in September 2016 at FuturePast studios in Hudson, NY. engineered by the wonderful Patrick Higgins.
