Alan Silvestri - Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb (2014)

It's nice to see Alan Silvestri continue on as the composer for this series. He picks up where he left off by bringing back familiar themes from the previous movies and builds upon them to tell this new story. As with the other movies, this is a big score which utilizes a large orchestra, as well as, a full chorus. The musicians used for the score are the Hollywood Studio Symphony and the Hollywood Film Chorale. The score is crafted perfectly for a family adventure film. It's packed with fun action sequences, comic bits, mystery and magic too. Silvestri has decorated the score with carefully planted musical sequences that captures the various characters and cultures found at the museum as well. Listen carefully and you can hear Egyptian themed music, the trumpet of Roosevelt's calvary, and even a hint of Chinese instrumentation.
