Laser Turntable Demonstration CD is a demonstration compact disc created for the laser turntable made by the ELP Corporation of Japan. This is a turntable where the record is played with a laser and when first sold, a model went for close to 15,000 GPS ($20,000 US). The price hasn't changed but it has moved people into investing in this digital phonograph. This was one of the first demonstrations made for it.
This is not a new supergroup featuring Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, Carl Palmer, and Cozy Powell.
When the ELP Corporation in Japan came out in 1988 with the Laser Turntable, which was able to read the groove of a record with a laser, vinyl junkies around the world lifted up their hands in glory.

The catch? The Laser Turntable went for a whopping $15,000 US, with deluxe models going up in price. It was appealing to libraries and other musicians who could afford it, such as Stevie Wonder.

In the late 90's, the company released a demonstration CD. This torrent consists of that demonstration. While ELP have since updated their demo, this one is interesting. The female host which guides the listener through the process is obviously not a professional, and comes off stiff. Even a computer generated robot has more personality than her.

If you have never heard this demo, but have been curious about the Laser Turntable, now you can hear the demo. The funny thing about this CD is that while they charge about $13,500 U.S. for a basic Laser Turnable model, the CD itself is a CD-R.
