    Brit-led French band 39th & The Nortons return with a timeless psych-influenced folk-rock odyssey.

    Under the name 39th & The Nortons, Nick Wheeldon (Os Noctambulos, The Jesus Loves Heroin Band?) recorded On Trial, his first album in 2012 in his bedroom. Shortly after moving to Paris, he began to work with established French musicians like Loïk (Jaromil Sabor), Martin and Sam (Bootchy Temple) and Fabien, then the once solo bedroom project became a real band. Together they recorded the follow-up The Dreamers (Stolen Body, 2017) and this new album Mourning Waltz on French label Croque Macadam.

    Slowly but surely, the Paris-based British Nick is building, through his different bands, one of the strongest and deepest sixties influenced rock repertoire. If Os Noctambulos bring back the energy and the rawness of Nuggets garage, 39th & The Nortons deliver a refined folk-rock odyssey. As some of his contemporaries (Allah-Las, Olden Yolk), the band aim with Mourning Waltz to capture in his very personal way the essence of the timeless and polished sound of the whole Byrds (Gene Clark, Gram Parsons). With hints of psychedelic rock and garage, their new album is a vibrant take on the Cosmic American music as well as a new testimony of Nick Wheeldon's unique songwriting talent.
