I almost ate this ticket due to multiple family issues. It's been a crazy three week stretch of bad luck - I don't know whether to laugh or cry. The morning of the show found me in Virginia Beach, certainly not on vacation. I didn't have my gear with me since I hadn't planned on being there that long, so when I determined I could finally get away, it meant a 240 mile trip across the state to my house, where I intended to get a few hours of needed sleep before starting the 120 mile journey to Charlottesville. With so much on my mind, it was impossible to sleep, so I hopped in the car and almost drove the wrong way. Coffee kept me going, and when I arrived at my seat (hand-picked to align with the side stack pointed at the upper level) I was happy have some good luck for a change - there were two nice women on my right who agreed to help with the recording, and two empty seats on my left. These remained empty until "Already Gone". I was a little concerned about the volume of clapping, so I got their cooperation during intermission. Only "golf claps" after that! I'm very pleased with the resulting recording. There is still a bit of "arena sound" but I would definitely record from that position again, hopefully with neighbors as nice as the ones I had on this evening.
