The concept: 14 female performers from the 90s cover hit singles by female performers from the '70s. Those who merely mimic the originals induce rapid snoozerama: count Babes in Toyland's "More More More," and Ebony Vibe Everlasting's "We Are Family," and Cassandra Wilson's "Killing Me Softly" in this category. Those who pizazz their contributions with good cheer and irreverence fare considerably better: Eve's Plum dresses up Yvonne Elliman's 1978 hit "If I Can't Have You" in electrifying fashion; That Dog brightly buzz-pops its way through Maria Muldaur's "Midnight at the Oasis"; Melissa Ferrick nicely converts Roberta Flack's "Feel like Making Love" from moody soul to funky folk.
