"Live In London" features a full show Steve Marriott played with his band "Packet Of Three" at London's Camden Palace Theatre in 1985. Marriott revisits many hits from his back catalog including classic Small Faces songs…
Marriott is quite simply a rock n roll legend - as leader of the Small Faces and Humble Pie he is responsible for some of the all-time great songs created by any British musician. Marriott formed the Small Faces with Ronnie Lane in 1964 and they went on to become of the legendary British bands of their era with classic hit songs including "All Or Nothing", "Tin Soldier", "Lazy Sunday" and "Itchycoo Park" and the seminal album "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake".
The band split in 1969 and Marriott went on to form Humble Pie with Peter Frampton - creating one of the 70's first supergroups and enjoying success on both sides of the Atlantic. Sadly, Marriott died in a house fire in 1991 - but his legacy and loyal fanbase around the world continue on.
Steve Marriot's glory years were 1965-1973. firstly with ultra-hip sixties mod band the Small Faces. Then from 1969 with US arena rockers Humble Pie. By the mid 70's Humble Pie had disintegrated. After an ill-advised Small Faces Reunion in 1977-1978 (without Ronnie Lane) and a more successful Humble Pie reunion in the early 80s we're left with Steve Marriot solo in the mid 80's.Tracklist:
This DVD feature his Packet Of Three band (Jim Leverton on bass and Humble Pie's Jerry Shirley on drums) live at the Camden Palace in 1985. The gig lasts 45 minutes and features a mix of Small faces, Humble Pie and blues standards.
The problem with Steve in 1985 is that he was playing bluesy pub-rock. He seemed to be happy out of the clutches of the music industry and playing small clubs. The band are tight, his voice still sounds good but the music is uninspiring. It doesn't help that the band are dressed in bad shirts and dungarees - they look like something out of a US mid-west country dance!..~ Scottish Dave (Edinburgh, Scotland). Amazon.co.uk
