SAZZ LEONORE (27 September 1989) emerges early as a singer in the making. At the age of eight she decides to take musical matters into her own hands and starts taking singing lessons. From that moment on, it is obvious: Sazz Leonore is here to sing! "Music is an extension of myself, no matter what storms you have to weather and whichever mood you’re in, it's great to reinforce it by listening to certain music. I'm rather restless by nature, I can’t sit still, and I always have to move around and do things. Music is my way of release, I invest all my energy into it and I’m singing all day.
Ella Fitzgerald is my great example, but also the old jazz feeling belonging to Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan, that repressed feeling that comes from the gut…That is what touches me!”
DEBUT ALBUM RECKLESS SMILE
Chill smooth jazz-pop sound would be the best description. Pete Souer has composed the songs, and Vincent Degiorgio, Mary Applegate and Joan Gannij have written the lyrics.
The album Reckless Smile has been launched in the North Sea Jazz Club in Amsterdam, with a performance of Sazz and her band.
All the songs have a wonderfully relaxed and mellow jazz vibe and each one of them is unique. Some songs are about views on love and one’s freedom within it. However, the album also contains songs with easy, light subjects. Songs you would love to hear time and again.
The album offers a feeling of recognition and renewal at the same time. And with the old elements of jazz from the sixties you go back in time, but with a more contemporary feel.
SOUL & JAZZ TALENT
Thanks to her debut album Reckless Smile Sazz has been awarded the title of “Soul & Jazz Talent”
by NPO Radio 6. In their report, the jury wrote:
“On this first single her sultry voice combines perfectly with the jazzy sound of her band. Young singer Sazz embodies old jazz celebrities like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, and we find it encouraging that a new generation of singers takes over the musical baton.”
US DEBUT ALBUM FALLEN
Sazz Leonore’s US debut album FALLEN is a collection of 12 jazz-pop songs about love and happiness. FALLEN combines modern pop-jazz sound with the traditional sounds of Sazz’s biggest influences Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and other jazz greats.
The album is being released by the boutique record label, Top Stop Music, which is led and founded by entrepreneur
Gregory Elias in 2008 based in Delray Beach, FL. Top Stop Music has opened the doors for top Latin artists such as Prince Royce and Leslie Grace among others.
The title track of the album, FALLEN, was produced by Gregory Elias, Juan Mario “Mayito” Aracil, and Guianko Gomez.
It is a tropical jazz fusion version of Lauren Wood’s original song.
Sazz Leonore’s FALLEN is now available on all digital stores in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
