If you were asked what the single most influential British band of the 20th century was, chances are your answer would be one of only two iconic outfits, either The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. It may come as something of a surprise, then, to hear that Britain's own New Music Express, kind of that country's version of Billboard and Rolling Stone combined, instead named The Smiths as the title holder of that particular honor.
