"Crying Ospreys" is a lovely disc of contemporary Chinese Pop produced and co-written by popular New Age artist Lin Hai. What sets this disc apart from hunderds of other Mando-pop discs is that the texts are all from ancient Chinese classical poetry. The combination of the elegant, archaic lyrics, Ha Hui's shimmering voice and Lin Hai's sensitive arrangements is truly beautiful fusion.

    From her Facebook page:
Ha Hui is a Chinese singer, songwriter, calligrapher and designer. She is an active member of China Musician Association, Vice Chairman of Recitation Society, Director of Ancient Poetry Research Center, and a committee member of the Beijing Youth Federation.

Ha Hui was born on Oct. 24, 1977 in Hanzhong City, Shanxi Province, China. During her teens, she began singing
lessons and competed in several local and regional beauty and talent pageants. In 1992 she was named Miss
Friendship in the Miss Hanzhong beauty pageant. The following year, she tried out for and was accepted into
the PLA Second Artillery Corps Political Department Art Troupe as a singer and special soloist. In 1996 she
was accepted into the Fine Arts Academy of the PLA. Following her graduation in 2000, she continued to perform
and was selected to be the designated soloist for the Air Force Political Department Art Troupe.

When she returned home in 2002, the local government selected Ha Hui to be Cultural and Goodwill Ambassador
for the city of Hanzhong. Ha Hui began her involvement in various charitable and philanthropic social organizations.
2003 saw the release of Ha Hui's first commercial recording, Hui Girls (回族姑娘). The album enjoyed success
throughout China followed by a DVD of her music videos. In 2005 she was selected to be the spokesperson for
    the National Narcotics Control Commission.

In 2006, Ha Hui began cultivating a deep interest in traditional Chinese culture and entered into an intensive
period of study. In 2008 she became an Ambassador of International Confucius Institutes and was later selected a
s Ambassador of Sinology by China Charity Foundation.

Following the release of her first CD, Ha Hui recorded several other CDs of traditional Chinese Folk Songs S
ing the Story of Spring (唱起春天的故事) (2004), Chinese Classical Folk Songs – Liu Gang and Ha Hui (中国经典民歌) (2007), and Mountain and Flowing Water (高山流水) (2007). Ha Hui came to national attention in 2008 with the release of her single, Courtesy (礼)(2008) - written for the 2008 Beijing Olympics for which it received special mention as one of the "30 Best Olympic Songs."
