Duquende new album called Puzzle, is composed of 11 songs, Malaga, fandango, bulerías, tangos and joys. In all Duquende sings with heart, head, balanced, and complain about right. Duquende ringside Gypsy singer has learned in the tradition the way you do, but have not been there, and sought other forms of expression in a more modern flamenco. In this new album we enjoy the company of the greatest flamenco guitarists, "Paco de Lucía, Tomatito, Tomatito Junior, Diego Morao Child Josele etc" as finale produces Pepe de Lucía, giving the disc all the wisdom of teacher with all his good work.
Juan Rafael Cortés Santiago, known as Duquende (Sabadell 1965) is a famous gypsy flamenco singer. At age 8, Camarón de la Isla invites him to debut on stage himself accompanying him on guitar. His performance had such an impact that was requested by the promoters and record labels, but her parents were opposed to professionally dedicated to music at an early age. In 1988 he recorded his first album Fire, fire cousin (Jercar). He published in 1993 'Duquende and Tomatito's guitar' and already in 2000, under the baton of Isidro Muñoz, 'Samaruco'. Since 1992, Duquende start a brilliant career that has led him to occur in recital in major theaters and auditoriums Spanish as the Palacio de la Música in Barcelona, Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, Palacio de la Música in Valencia, Zaragoza Auditorium, Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada, the Teatro Lope de Vega and the Teatro Central in Seville, among others. In 1996 he became the first singer invited to give a recital at the Théâtre des Champs Élysées, and since then he acts on a regular basis. In December 1998 he performed on guitar accompanied by Tomatito. His last performance was in this prestigious theater in February 2001, coinciding with the publication in France of his album "Samaruco". His recent performances include the presentation of his new album at the Teatro Bellas Artes in Madrid and his solo debut in the U.S., with performances in Santa Fe New Mexico and in Central Park in New York. He participated in the film Flamenco Carlos Saura. Duquende have collaborated with large modern flamenco guitarists like John Habichuelas, Tomatito, Juan Manuel Cañizares, Moraíto Chico and Vicente Amigo. Currently works with guitarist José Carlos Gómez. Paco de Lucia, who chose him as a singer to accompany him on international tours of his group, said about him: "In Barcelona you have a monster, Duquende, with the magic of singing, inspiration and technique." His discography includes several discs. "Samaruco" features musical direction by Isidro Muñoz and collaboration of guitarists Juan Manuel Cañizares and Paco de Lucía. After five years working on projects such as Qawwali Jondo along the Pakistani singer Faiz Ali Faiz, returns to the studio to record My way of living with Chicuelo production, released in late 2005. Months later, will be released directly recorded at the Cirque d' Hiver in Paris. In 2013 he published his new album Puzzle. And is given time with Paco de Lucia for a solo tour.
