Let me preface this by saying that instrumental doom, in any of its various incarnations, is not always the easiest thing to pull off. A lot of bands in the genre get away with making utterly boring and lifeless music, doing nothing to separate themse'The doom and sludge outfit Clagg blows you away with their third long player ‘Lord Of The Deep’. Nothing more but surely nothing less. Just listen to ‘The Harvest’ or the title track that shows you that rolling and rumbling drums in combination with overtuned guitars and computer samples make the ideal intro to a stomping giant of sheer sludge brutality. The band from Melbourne knows that their sound is rich of Eyehategod and Grief attitude but give their own even more heavy twist on it. The band has been plagued with a lot of line-up changes recently but the tight and firm songs show no wear at all. It even sounds that the heaviness grows during each song and that intensity and volume go up during a track. The well deserved breaks and moments of inner search show that this band is one of the greater ones hailing from kangaroo land. Great CD!'-Lords Of Metal
