Live & Unreleased, 1967 is basically a re-release of 1998's 50 Minute Technicolour Dream, only with four fewer tracks. The radio sessions have the expected sound for the era and offer an alternative to the common versions found on Tomorrow. The demos from Blow Up are okay, but the real highlight is the gig from 1967, which offers a rare glimpse into Tomorrow's lifestyle. This disc doesn't offer a sonic improvement on this portion – the vocals are still a bit distorted – but fans would kill for a release of this quality from scene-mates Pink Floyd, who also played at this show. Die-hard fans may want the original version with its extra cuts, but Live & Unreleased, 1967 is definitely easier to find and should fulfill most people's desire for a supplement to Tomorrow's scant recorded output.by Brian Downing, allmusic
Beginnings Steve Howe's first solo album was a failure next to rival solo releases by Jon Anderson and Chris Squire, both of whom yielded work that was more majestic and memorable. The playing is strong throughout, but towards what end is the mystery – none of the songs are particularly memorable, nor is the production (even a guest appearance by members of the folk-rock group Gryphon doesn't help), and Howe is such a weak singer that he'd have been better off following the lead of his Yes predecessor Peter Banks and sticking to instrumentals.~ allmusic
