“They could say things that were shocking even by modern standards, but always in a very clever and playful way,” Scouten tells The Boot of that genre. “I don’t tend to write sexy songs, but I took my cue from some old blues and wrote a song all about birds and bees, which can be as literal or euphemistic as you like.” A two-time Canadian Folk Music Award nominee and previous Western Canadian Music Award nominee, Scouten released her third studio album.
