After the unexpected success of their first album, "Elephant Love" released late in 2015, the young duo Ropoporose had a little pressure. The heading of the second, the record of maturity, all that. Fuck it, yes. Romain (drums and a lot of other stuff) and Pauline (vocals, guitars and a lot of other stuff too) -the two frangin-frangine who hide behind this name-galipette- continue to act as if the world Whole was unaware of their existence. Which is not entirely false either. But this is probably what best suits them to believe the content of this "Kernel / Foreign Moons".
Composed in a random mode over three years until they entered the studio with Thomas Poli (guitarist Dominique A or Lætitia Sheriff among others, who played his role as director on this record). Kernel, Foreign Moons: the duet distinguishes titles composed in the same spirit and the same period on the one hand (None, Horses, Spouknit …), pieces one (Skeletons, Barking in the Park, Holy Birds, etc.). It is also the reflection of themes often centered on a terrestrial bestiary (Horses, Fishes Are Love, Barking In The Park), but which do not prevent sometimes to lift the nose towards the sky (Spouknit, Moon). From the to talk about concept album … And after all what matters the pretty bottle in which the duo has sought to refourguer its cocktail: the essential is rather in the beautiful drunkenness that it gives us! Each of these twelve oddities imposes its strengths effortlessly, when they do not simply exchange them in the course of a song: Pauline's bitter-bitter voice ("Holy Birds", "Spouknit"), young and sonic guitars "" Horses "," Moon "," Spouknit "), Tortoise (" None "," Electric ") knitted rhythms and the dreamlike cavalcades of the" Faceless Man ". So we still have not recovered from this crazy "Guizmo", as escaped from the Holiday Colony, or from the sublime "Barking In The Park", BO of western of a different Great West, played at the homeswinger, instrument That the group has designed with Yuri Landman, the favorite luthier of Lee Ranaldo or Thurton Moore …
Their jubilant mixture of kraut, indie-pop, noise, math-rock, lo-fi and bubblegum always succeeds in making the whistling of pieces that are sometimes convoluted, filled with fractures and counterpoints, as if c 'Were brit-pop bluettes. Everything seems simple, obvious, natural. While it is often inventive, ambitious, mastered.
