BIOGRAPHY:About Grant……
I have been playing music all my life and enjoy sharing my originality. After almost three decades of performing live, I still enjoy every single show and just can’t seem to wait for my next gig.I have gotten to share the stage with a handful of recording artists and it was an incredible learning experience for me. I walked away with a perspective that helps me balance things today.Although travel is inevitable in this business, I consider myself a “Home-body” and try to stay local to the Arkla-Tex region. (Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma) The cost of diesel fuel has forced me tighten the reigns even more and travel/perform as a “trio”.
I perform solo and also have a band called “Grant Cook & Friends”. The core of the band is the trio including Stephen Graham (bass guitar and vocals) Kevin Ewalt is the Drummer(percussion) and myself (guitar & vocals). Also added to the band when budget allows is Sean Fuller (Sax), Todd Henry (keyboards and guitar) and Kristina Domm(female vocals).
“Variety with a lot of originality” is how I can sum up the concept of what we do, but in the end it’s whatever it takes to make the bodies move to the beat of our music. We always do our best to fit the venue and that’s why our schedule is pretty full all the time.
In addition to live performances, I teach guitar, bass and piano at a facility at Lake Palestine. Sharing what I have learned is something that I have been “called-to-do” and it always brings me joy help expand someone’s knowledge and talent in this area. I have even started classes to make learning more affordable for people to learn.
