Elizabeth Watts is regarded as 'one of the finest British sopranos to have emerged in the last decade. Her reputation is steadily growing as she has performed s a recitalist, opera singer, and concert artist, she has already appeared at many of the world's leading musical centres and festivals, including the Royal Opera House, London, Wigmore Hall, Welsh National Opera, the BBC Proms, Santa Fe Opera, Boston's Handel and Haydn Society, and has engagements throughout Europe from Amsterdam to Zurich. Her roles usually embrace Mozart and Strauss but her she makes her solo recording debut with a selection of works by Bach. In addition to singing the complete Cantatas 'Mein Herze Schwimmt in Blut' and 'Jauchzet Gott in Allen Landen' she includes individual arias from four other cantatas. She is ably accompanied here by Harry Bicket and The English Concert. While Watts' voice may not be the perfect 'Bach voice', these performances are elegant and the collection is one to treasure. – Grady Harp
