    I may be mistaken, but I think this is Con's first CD, despite more than 30 records and ridiculous numbers of tapes. Con, incidentally, was a co-founder of bands like Tangerine Dream and Cluster, although his own music has always been a lot less accessible. It's also nice to see that it's a collaboration with Jörg Thomasius, an East German musician, now getting wider recognition. Tolling Toggle presents 18 tracks of abstract electronic music, mixing analogue and digital synthesis, samples and acoustic sounds, creating slightly bizarre, spartan little worlds, where the conventional sound is shoved face-to-face with the musical outsider. It's mostly too random for my taste, but it also produces some powerful and resonant moments. Weird noise fans should definitely look into it, but it has a lot to recommend it to open-minded listeners generally.
    Jörg Thomasius' profile from Discogs:
    Experimental musician and composer from East Berlin, founding member of the Avant-Garde band Das Freie Orchester (DFO), which he left in 1990. Active from the mid 80s, Jörg Thomasius recorded, produced and released numerous tapes either as a solo project or in collabaration with fellow musicians like Dieter Zobel or DFO, mostly on DFO's own label Kröten Kassetten. Thomasius had a studio in East Berlin named 'Tomato', where most of the material was recorded and produced. Thomasius started collaborating with musicians from the West, like Conrad Schnitzler, David Prescott, Gen Ken Montgomery, Michael Chocholak etc., resulting in his music reaching an international audience. After 1990, Thomasius continued to work intensively with Conrad Schnitzler as with many other musicians like Lars Stroschen, Doc Wör Mirran, André Ruschkowski, to name but a few.
