Alghazanth is the symphonic Black Metal band that is coming from Finland. During last 10 years I was able to check out, here and there, a song or few (thanks to various CD compilations) from this particular band but this is my first time that I can concentrate and listen to their entire record. ”Vinum Intus” is Alghazanth’s 6th full-length. I can sense a kind of Norwegian influence in their music.Line-up:
So, if you are into bands as Limbonic Art or early Gehenna you are going probably to like Alghazanth, too. But, also I really need to add that this band has something specific to offer so it will be unfair if I say that they are just one link to Norwegian scene. Their music has something deeply innovative and original unlike thousands of BM bands which are invading scene each day. Alghazanth’s music sounds very harmonic and melodic. They found a perfect balance between the using of guitars and keyboards. Although that keyboard are playing pretty important role in their music the guitars are also very important as well. Sometimes there can passes a minute or two until you will be able to hear some symphonic moments composed by keyboards. So, obviously their music has these catchy moments and yet again they have not lost aggressively. Furthermore, aside of electric guitars Alghazanth’s music is also enriched by some fine acoustic guitar’s accords.
So, the sixth effort ”Vinum Intus” is the finest combination of symphonic and epic Black Metal with strong and innovative guitar’s riffing and acoustic atmosphere. ”Vinum Intus” sounds very monumental, mystic and dark. It wasn’t so hard to get of what their lyrics are talking about. Occult and Satanic topics are in the front line. Simply just take a look on the cover artwork which was done for this record. Aside of Black Metal vocals, which are typical and very well done screams (which are perfectly suiting for the music) one could hear some chanting here and there. The finest example for this mighty chanting is the 5th track ” Our Ascent of the Tower”-very mystical one. It is very hard to extracted any particular track as the favorite one from this material but I love to add that I really like the grim atmosphere of few songs: ”With a Thorn In Our Hearts, Under the Arrow Star and The Way of the Scales”. And aside of acoustic guitar work in a track or two you will be able to hear some real/played violins. They are sounding just perfect! Using of violins is rare but it was obviously fantastically done.
So, Alghazanth has succeeded to deliver one intensive piece or work with lots of quality ideas to share. There is no any doubt that the lovers of melodic and symphonic Black Metal art are going to love their newer record. Anyway, a nice start of 2011!Marko Mirnaovic
