Vytautas Bacevičius’s life was defined by exile and migration during the turbulent first half of the 20th century, but his impressive catalogue represents a remarkable creative spirit undimmed by adversity. My journey with this album began during a challenging period, but it turned out to be an incredible experience. While I was in the hospital for heart surgery, I started listening to Beethoven’s Pathétique Sonata, performed by Barenboim. It lifted my spirits and sparked a thought – wouldn’t it be wonderful to spread happiness through music? That’s when I began dreaming of becoming a concert pianist. After my recovery, I devoted more time to playing the piano and was accepted into the Young Musician Academy in Tilburg. During the Bunschoten Younger Talent Award ceremony, someone asked about my dreams. I mentioned wanting to release my own album, never expecting it to happen so quickly.
