Field recordings, photographs and laser scans from hydropower dams in the Swiss Alps. The second part of our Swiss water trilogy, after "Melting Landscapes".

On A Walk in the Shadow Garden, as on previous albums throughout his career, Spotted Peccary Music artist Rudy Adrian paints sylvan scenes with sound. A percussive trilling on “Dawn Redwood” could be the hammering of a woodpecker’s beak. Glittering chimes evoke light through tangled branches on the track “Hemlock Grove.” Such is the music of nature to Adrian, where these twin passions of a life upon the Earth have been forever forged.

Windscale is ambient post-rock project Last Days' sixth album. The album focuses on Britain's most significant nuclear disaster in 1957 at the Windscale nuclear plant. Each work on Windscale mirrors the mood of critical moments in the struggling reactor's timeline. From the hopeful promises of free energy to nuclear fire and its aftermath. Through his unique brand of aural storytelling, Last Days experiments in a way that reinforces the retro-futuristic nature of atomic power, showing melancholic empathy for those who experienced the accident firsthand.

This is some of the music composed for the Laserium, a sound to light extravagance that I have been working on over the last year. The Laserium is a method of using sound to drive lasers that are refracted or reflected to corresponding individual voices in the music. It's all very psychedelic but without a drug. Very strange.

London-based artist and musician Wil Bolton, known for several fine release of predominantly sound-based artworks with eye and vision, this time joins up with Joseph Auer ( born in the USA. educated at the UK) for a intruiging and fascinating set of electronic minimalism, driven by melodic loops and sequences floating on a bed of droning ambient. ‘Meridian’ is a fusion of two sessions and two musical impressions. Both sessions were recorded at Wil’s London studio in 2017, but also took inspiration from Joseph’s time spent in both Tokyo and Barcelona.

Today we have a new edition in our digital-only series, eRecords! ‘sirena’ is a two track EP from anonymous artist Glåsbird, a deep dive into Pacific Ocean seascapes, with wondrous, sleepy Ambient drones.

Glåsbird is an anonymous artist, active since 2018 and with releases to date appearing exclusively on Whitelabrecs, as part of a series called A Sonic Expedition. With each edition in the collection, the artist concentrates on a different geographic location. The project emerged somewhere inside the Arctic Circle, descending to Greenland, moving onto Svalbard and then the Norwegian Fjords before most recently, on the Russian owned peninsulas Novaya Zemlya. The music of Glåsbird ranges from electro-acoustic Ambient to Modern Classical, with this artist keen on producing a range of experiments to show their full range of ideas and techniques.

It's unusual for an album to be conceived and captured in a single week, with every song included in the exact same order in which they were created. But that's exactly what happened when East Forest and Peter Broderick gathered in a small house in the west of Ireland to write and record music together in April 2022.

Crowlink is a collection of songs sung by Shirley Collins in the heart of the South Downs, with field records from the edge of the cliff at Crowlink, Firle Church and from Etchingham. Recorded look out to sea, listening to the song of the skylarks, the wind whipping through the bent over trees, the waves crashing against the white cliffs, the pull of the tide across chalk, shingle and stone.

Memories fade. But to fade is not to disappear. It is to live a thousand more lives, each different from the next. And it is in their ebb and flow that eternity resides. Memories of a life when we shouted our feelings from the rooftops without words. Memories of days we never let each other fall. Never let each other know the meaning of a broken heart.

The world has found itself in a significant hurry. We have also found ourselves in the most distracted period of time in history; finding it tremendously difficult to remain in a moment of stillness, quietude, or allow time for self-reflection. Conversely, our vast universe continues its expansion into infinite development; a climate of deafening silence in a boundless four-dimensional continuum. It remains mesmerizing with a quiet allure that freely suspends in space-time; a true account of the beautiful unknown that sparks hope, reverence, and an awesome realization of impenetrable mystery.

Early February 2011: Decided to make an album inspired by the Japanese post-war economic miracle. While searching for more information I found an old photo of the Mihama nuclear plant. The fact that this futuristic-looking plant was situated in such a beautiful spot so close to the sea made me curious. Are they safe when it comes to earthquakes and tsunamis?

Milan Records is proud to release “12,” an intimate collection of twelve compositions by Ryuichi Sakamoto, written and recorded in Tokyo during his fight with cancer throughout 2021-2022. Each numbered title refers to its recording date. About the album, Sakamoto says: ”….after I finally “came home” to my new temporary housing after a big operation, I found myself reaching for the synthesizer. I had no intention of composing something; I just wanted to be showered in sound. I’ll probably continue to keep this kind of “diary.”
