This concept inspired Delmark to explore the historical recordings made by JIMMY BURNS when he was very young. Jimmy also proposed a list of songs he always liked; songs that brought back nice warm memories, such as the two blues: Big Joe Turner’s World of Trouble, and Lil’ Son Jackson’s Rock Me Mama, as well as Express Yourself, a powerful tune by Charles Wright, who was also–like Jimmy–a Clarksdale, Mississippi area native. That’s how JIMMY BURNS has come FULL CIRCLE.

Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, musician and the Big Chief of the Golden Eagles, is a revered elder of both the Mardi Gras Indian community and the larger New Orleans cultural family. The two-time Grammy nominee is perhaps best known for his long-time affiliation with Big Chief Bo Dollis and the Wild Magnolias, but he has also garnered international attention and acclaim for his more recent work with groups like the Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars, Dr. John, Cyril Neville, Anders Osborne, Galactic, and Johnny Sansone, and other luminaries of the New Orleans blues and funk landscape.

Nano Stern presents "Refugio," his new album and first album of original songs since "Aún creo en la belleza" (I Still Believe in Beauty) (2022). The musical project, recorded live at the prestigious EastSide Sound Studios in Manhattan, brings Stern's compositions closer to Latin American jazz and was recorded alongside prominent musicians from the international scene in New York. The songs, with an intimate and emotional tone, combine roots music with the freedom of jazz, and Stern's writing is evocative and precise, with reflections on heartbreak, loss, disorder, and the need for shelter. The celebrated Chilean singer Claudia Acuña also features as a guest, and the album includes creative collaborations with Acuña herself and Eduardo Carrasco, leader of Quilapayún.

"Happy People" is the second album from the international trio led by Swiss double bassist and composer Dominik Schürmann. The trio also features Italian tenor saxophonist Max Ionata and German drummer Janis Bicker. The album is conceived as a musical expression of joy, positivity, and optimism in response to contemporary challenges and crises. All compositions on the record were written by Dominik Schürmann. The trio's music is characterized by strong, memorable melodies, tight interplay between the musicians, and an energetic yet soulful sound rooted in the modern jazz tradition.

John Lennon’s birthday today, October 9, is marked by the release of a new deluxe and expanded version of Imagine (The Ultimate Collection). The set is now available to stream and download, and features the entire full-length collection of tracks, some of which have previously only been available on Blu-Ray, in Hi-Res Stereo and Spatial Audio/Dolby Atmos. Yoko Ono Lennon and Sean Ono Lennon have sent a note to Lennon’s legions of fans worldwide to explain that each set of mixes from the compilation – Ultimate, Elements, Evolution, Raw Studio and Out-Takes – has been released as a separate album. This allows his songs to be enjoyed in the way that was originally intended, curated by Yoko Ono Lennon, rather than release all 78 tracks from the themed retrospective in one vast playlist.
