The multiple award-winning bass-baritone Sebastian Naglatzki and the versatile pianist Ana Miceva bring together on their new GENUIN album the last song compositions of Franz Schubert, Hugo Wolf, Johannes Brahms, and Maurice Ravel. These works reflect themes such as farewell, transience, and the search for ultimate truths – captured in music with poignancy and deep feeling. Francesco Almasio (Milan, 21 April 1802 – Milan, 14 November 1871) was one of the protagonists of the musical life of Milan during the nineteenth century and is considered the father of the reformation of sacred music in Italy.

This programme and accompanying album recording, curated by violinist Marie Schreer, is based on notions of origin and belonging, geographically, emotionally and linguistically. It is centred around three new works by Marie Schreer, Aaron Holloway-Nahum, and Ashkan Behzadi, as well as a new poem by Taher Adel. UZED is the fourth album by Belgian Band UNIVERS ZERO. Released three years after 'Ceux du Dehors', due to a change of line-up and a new repertoire, although the EP 'Crawling Wind' has been released in the meantime.The album marked a turning pointfor the band. Univers Zero explored new electric colors, giving it a more rock feel with the addition of new musicians such as Jean-Luc Plouvier, who introduced the synthesizer, guitarist Michel Delory, who played a memorable solo in 'Célesta (ForChantal)', and André Mergen on electric cello and alto saxophone,who enriched the orchestral texture. Dirk Descheemaeker on clarinet and soprano saxophone, the return of Christian Genet on bass, this evolution can also be explained by the arrival of new musicians.

Grand Canyon. Because of its many windows (to allow visitors to appreciate the precipices of the Canyon from a safe vantage point), this is one of Colter’s most light-filled spaces. Sweeping gestures followed by sustained notes represent sunlight playing on the features of the Canyon.

Since the turn of this century, perhaps no other modern composition has had a more resonant healing effect than The Disintegration Loops. Composer William Basinski’s deteriorating analog tape loops evolved from melodic symphonies to melancholic silence over a span of time that uncannily turned passing minutes into pensive lifetimes. In her foreword for the new box set reissue of The Disintegration Loops, the pioneering multimedia storyteller, Laurie Anderson, describes the impact of this transformation in poetic detail: “These dissolving sounds, this emptying space, has gained my complete confidence. They are taking me somewhere. I am willingly following these sounds, becoming more and more transparent.” The Disintegration Loops – Arcadia Archive Edition is an expansive new box set that includes the entire 5-hour suite of iconic work. Newly remastered from the original recordings by Josh Bonati, the hefty package includes eight vinyl records (or four CDs for the less analog-inclined) in sturdy full-color jackets featuring the restored original artwork, and a new 1000-word foreword by Laurie Anderson – all housed in a striking heavyweight, case-wrapped box. It is the ideal encapsulation of one of the 21st Century’s most truly transcendent works. As Anderson concludes in her foreword, “this music has created another world, a world to be carried away in.”

The music of multi-award-winning composer Vincent Ho has been described by The New York Times as ‘brilliant and compelling’, not least for his music’s beauty and expressive breadth. Ho wrote The Twelve Chinese Zodiac Animals as a gift for his eight-year-old daughter, to enrich her musical education as she learned the piano and to introduce her to Chinese cultural themes and performance practices in pianistic form. The cycle presents the musical spirits of the animals with captivating musical caricatures in two books, the second of which is a selection of preludes and fugues for more advanced players. They are performed by Tony Yike Yang, one of Canada’s finest young pianists and the youngest laureate in the history of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.

First chapter of a futuristic dub experiment series by The 18th Parallel. Geneva based collective invites engineer extraordinaire Roberto Sánchez to revisit 10 scorcher riddims from the Fruits Records vault to craft this inventive modern classic. Reminiscent of the greatest dub albums by King Tubby, Scientist, Prince Jammy, or Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry.
