After what can only be described as a smashing debut with the hit-filled MCA Nashville album Home State, Jordan Davis returns with this six song, self-titled EP. Considered a more personal look into Davis’s life as a new husband, the songs that make up the EP definitely seem to confirm that thought. While they are personal to Jordan Davis’ own life, what makes the songs even better is that they’re relatable to everyone else and like a good song will do, they allow the listener to find themselves within the lyrics.

Brothers Brad and Curtis Rempel of High Valley have long shared stories of a family-filled childhood in rural La Crete, Alberta in Canada, so it’s no surprise that they’re proud to say they “Grew Up On That.” Their brand new single, written by the duo’s Brad Rempel, Ben Stennis and Jaron Boyer, cites details of small town living specific to their lives but familiar to any country fan.
“We have spent a lot of time in the past couple of years explaining what we grew up without, having spent our childhoods living in a pretty remote area,” Brad said. “This time around we wanted to let people know more of our story and exactly what we did have – what made us who we are – and what we grew up on.”
“I love the way we recorded these,” added Curtis. “Being able to record this project on our own property was amazing. It encapsulates who we are as a band and brings us back to our roots.”

Although the exact origins of sega remain unknown, it contains vocal and percussive practices that originated from Madagascar, Mozambique and East Africa. A social escape and a space for improvisation, satire and verbal jousting, it transcended everyday life and made room for the expression of conflicts and the transgression of taboos. The main instrument of sega is the ravanne, a large tambourine like drum made of a large wooden frame and goat skin. It is accompanied by the maravanne, a rectangular rattle filled with seeds, and other homemade forms of percussion.

Just in time for the Memorial Day long weekend in the US, country music mega-stars Florida Georgia Line have released a cool half dozen songs on their new 6-Pack EP.

When asked about what drove him to craft his deeply evocative new album, Steve Earle says, “I thought that, given the way things are now, it was maybe my responsibility to make a record that spoke to and for people who didn’t vote the way that I did,” he says. “One of the dangers that we’re in is if people like me keep thinking that everybody who voted for Trump is a racist or an asshole, then we’re fucked, because it’s simply not true. So this is one move toward something that might take a generation to change. I wanted to do something where that dialogue could begin.”
