Invited to present a programme of his own choosing in the context of the Chicago Jazz Festival, Jack DeJohnette brought his old colleagues together for a concert at Millennium Park in August 2013, completing the group with the addition of bassist/cellist Larry Gray. This live recording, documenting their first performance as a quintet, was mixed by DeJohnette and Manfred Eicher at New York’s Avatar Studio.

Bitches Brew is called the monument of "Electric Miles", a popular work that became Miles's first gold disc. It was originally released in March 1970, which was popular not only for jazz fans since its launch. Recording is taking place in New York in August 1969 the day after Woodstock is over. This 2018 Limited Edition Japanese Multichannel Hybrid SACD release comes in a deluxe 7" packaging and features the first release of reviving the 1970s Quadraphonic mix in over 40 years. "Live-Evil" is an album of both live and studio recordings by American jazz musician Miles Davis. This greatest masterpieces of all genres finally becomes SACD multichannel (quadraphonic) hybrid format reissue. Remastered in 2019. The 4ch mix of the front and rear is a sound source recorded in Quadraphonic, initially released in March 1973, and can be said to be a long-awaited revival release. "First Light" is the nineteenth album by jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard. Recorded in 1971, it features string arrangements by Don Sebesky. It was his third album released on Creed Taylor's CTI label and features performances by Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Eric Gale, George Benson, Ron Carter, Jack DeJohnette, Airto Moreira and Richard Wyands. The album is part of a loose trilogy including his two previous records at the time, Red Clay and Straight Life. First Light won a 1972 Grammy Award for "Best Jazz Performance by a Group".

"Bitches Brew" is a studio double album by American jazz musician, composer, and bandleader Miles Davis, originally released in 1970 on Columbia Records. It marked his continuing experimentation with electric instruments that he had previously featured on the critically acclaimed "In a Silent Way". With these instruments, such as the electric piano and guitar, Davis rejected traditional jazz rhythms in favor of loose, rock-influenced arrangements based on improvisation.

"Joe Farrell Quartet" is a jazz album by Joe Farrell on the CTI Records label. It was recorded at the Van Gelder Studio on 1 and 2 July 1970. Guitarist John McLaughlin guests on two tracks and there are two duo tracks, one with Holland and one with Corea. The album was re-released twice in the mid 1970s (with different cover art in each instance) as "Super Session" and "Song of the Wind".

"Super Nova" is the twelfth album by Wayne Shorter, recorded in 1969 and released on the Blue Note label. The album features five originals by Shorter and an arrangement of "Dindi" by Antônio Carlos Jobim. "Water Babies", "Capricorn" and "Sweet Pea" were originally recorded in a more traditional jazz setting in 1967 during the sessions with the Second Miles Davis Quintet that would be released in 1976 on the album "Water Babies". Chick Corea appears on drums rather than his typical role as a keyboardist.

Life of a Song is Geri Allen's first recording under her own name in six long years. She teams with the rhythm section of bassist Dave Holland and drummer Jack DeJohnette, whom she worked with on the late Betty Carter's stellar live date Feed the Fire in 1993. Allen composed eight of the album's 11 cuts, and the covers include Bud Powell's "Dance of the Infidels," Billy Strayhorn's "Lush Life," and Mal Waldron's "Soul Eyes." This last selection is augmented by the participation of Marcus Belgrave on flugelhorn, saxophonist Dwight Andrews, and trombonist Clifton Anderson.
