This is a tribute album with a difference. Vocalist Jen Chapin, daughter of Harry, has decided to take on the Stevie Wonder songbook with the minimalist accompaniment of bass and saxophone alone, played by Stephan Crump and Chris Cheek respectively. ReVISIONS is more of personal project, close to an all-original jazz set, similar in feeling and sound to Sheila Jordan's duos with the solo bassist Harvey Swartz. These boys and a lady create groove and feeling with only 2 instruments and natural jazzy voice!

The most adventurous quartet in contemporary jazz has met its visual match in Peter Max, the legendary pop artist who, as it turns out, is a huge fan of the band. Russell Ferrante and company could probably feel at home naming any of their innovative, loose-spirited albums after one of Max's paintings, but Altered State definitely fits the vibe here – which is all odd meters, emotionally provocative melodic lines, and unexpected harmonies.

Although sometimes grouped with Spyro Gyra, Yellowjackets are actually one of the most creative regular groups in the "rhythm & jazz" genre. Founded in 1981 as an R&B-oriented band, the long-running crossover jazz outfit that has been a Grammy favorite and a top seller since the 1980s.

Recorded at the last stop on their 2002 tour, Alive in Seattle documents an impeccable performance and production, mixed for surround-sound playback on Super Audio CD format. A warm artist/audience vibe permeates this set; it's easy to imagine families sprawled out on an amphitheater lawn, taking in the music on an early summer evening.

This absolutely classic jazz recording is entitled Portraits of Cuba and is a milestone project of Paquito D'Rivera. Arranged by Carlos Franzetti, the large band ensemble provides an orchestral ambiance akin to the legendary Gil Evan sound with Miles Davis, in the classic "Sketches of Spain." This recording couldn't come at a better time, as it presents an artistic commentary on a national and social transition as it unfolds in a new and evolving Cuba. It is truly a work that will be applauded worldwide as the quality of the writing and performance is at a level few artists are capable of achieving today. Paquito D'Rivera provides some of the most inspired improvisation in his career to date and the material chosen for this recording are familiar classics in the popular Latin music tradition. Best Latin Jazz Album of the 39th Annual Grammy Awards.

Journey to the Centre of the Eye is the debut album from English progressive rock band Nektar that came out in late 1971. Because of its narrative nature, it has been called a rock opera and/or dense concept album. The music of the album is commonplace in early 70's progressive rock. It uses a range of musical effects. The guitar used psychedelic distortion and the wah-wah, as well as screeching distortion. It has psychedelic influences, as well.

Remember the Future is the fourth album from English progressive rock band Nektar. It is a concept album featuring one song divided into two parts. On the original LP, each side contained one of the two parts. In 2004 Remember the Future was once again re-released, but this time by the UK's Eclectic Discs/Dream Nebula Recordings. For this reissue the remastered version was used and they added a third Radio edit of the title track. This version was also released as a SACD, with a 5.1 surround mix on the SACD layer; the 2 channel audio CD layer contains the 2002 remix. Track 3 ("Remember the Future") is an edit released on a various artists compilation album titled "Made In Germany". Tracks 4 and 5 are radio promo only single edits.

The worldwide digital debut of The Jimmy Castor Bunch’s 1973 hidden gem, Dimension III. To say that Castor, a multi-talented R&B singer/songwriter/producer/arranger/saxophonist (and self-proclaimed “Everything Man”), had a colourful career would be an understatement. Starting as a doo-wop singer, by the age of 15 Castor (almost by accident) had become the author of a hit single when neighbourhood friends Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers covered his own group’s I Promise To Remember as the follow-up to their smash hit Why Do Fools Fall In Love, taking the song to No. 10 in the US R&B charts in 1957. Plying his trade as an arranger and studio musician for most of the next ten years, Castor would go from doo-wop singer to sax-playing Latin soul bandleader…

Cellist Steven Isserlis once again displays his ingenuity and innovation in programming on this 2010 release combining four works for cello and orchestra that wouldn't even exist without him: all arrangements were made at his personal request, each one by the arranger of his personal choice. The most radical reworking is the opening selection, based on a suite composed for cello and orchestra by a 19-year-old Debussy, which only survived in a version for cello and piano. In her imaginative reconstruction of, or rather replacement for, Debussy's original composition, Sally Beamish uses the piece as the opening movement, going on to construct orchestral arrangements of four other Debussy works from the same period. Isserlis also includes revisions of two Ravel songs, Prokofiev's incomplete Concertino and Ernest Bloch's From Jewish Life, ending with the movement entitled Prayer. Throughout the fascinating programme, Isserlis is backed by the Tapiola Sinfonietta conducted by Gábor Takács-Nagy.

This smoking organ trio recording is both a first for guitarist Larry Coryell and a return to his roots. More than 40 years after moving to New York City from Seattle, Coryell comes full circle back to his roots with this inspired organ trio outing. And in the stellar company of Yahel and Wertico, he is pushed to some exhilarating heights on these nine tracks.

Warriors of the World is the ninth album by heavy metal band Manowar. Amongst its varied tracks are tributes to Wagner, Pavarotti, and Elvis Presley. The song Nessun Dorma was dedicated to Adams' mother who had died earlier that year.

The Smetana Quartet are a true legend. For over four decades (1945-1989), the ensemble gained critical acclaim and enthused audiences all over world, particularly in the UK, USA and Japan. They attained perfect chime and extraordinary flexibility in voice leading, resulting in part from their playing the entire repertoire by heart. This quadrophonic recording featuring Two String Quartets of Bedřich Smetana. It have been recorded in February 1976 in Praha and originally released through local Supraphon label.

After a series of popular and award-winning recordings running over a wide range of the piano repertoire, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet is a well-known name in the piano lover’s world. But back in the 90’s, Bavouzet was just a name on a little known Japanese label specializing in piano music. The Études as presented here by Bavouzet are marvels of musical insight and control. The Children’s Corner is equally compelling. Also on this disc presented other Debussy’s works as Page d'album, Berceuse héroïque, La plus que lente, and Elégie. As with the Etudes, the recorded sound of the piano is miraculously good. The recording was made in 1996 but not released by the Japanese label, Octavia Records, until 2005. This perhaps explains its obscurity relative to Bavouzet’s more recent recordings of the same material.

Blue-eyed soul crooner Michael McDonald gave his career a much-needed shot in the arm with 2003's Motown, a commercially well-received collection that matched the one-time Doobie Brother and '80s solo star's rich vocals with songs from Hitsville's peak.
