The audaciously funky and multi-talented Danish bassist-singer-songwriter-bandleader Ida Nielsen, a former member of two of Prince's backing bands - New Power Generation and the four-piece rock-edged 3rd Eye Girl - releases her sixth album as a leader overall and fourth since the passing of her former mentor in April 2016.

The album is convincing above all because of its unobtrusive depth. One can listen excellently and is amply rewarded for paying attention. But you can also listen to 'Radio' very well on the side and devote yourself to the other important things in life. Just as good radio should be!

Guitarist and composer Ben Verdery cites Leonard Bernstein’s magnanimous artistic spirit as the inspiration for this album of new works for guitar and string quartet with the Ulysees Quartet. Indeed, Bernstein’s openness can be seen reflected in the eclectic aesthetic territory on offer, from Bryce Dessner’s percolating Quintet for High Strings to Verdery’s two works for electric guitar and quartet, and Javier Farias’ South American influenced Andean Suite to Verdery’s arrangement of Bernstein’s Clarinet Sonata.

Mike Shinoda has unveiled a new version of his 2018 solo album Post Traumatic. Originally released five years ago on June 15 – and written after the tragic loss of his bandmate Chester Bennington in 2017 – the Linkin Park man is celebrating the anniversary of his excellent debut solo LP with a remastered version, along with a video for Hold It Together.

The young, already internationally successful Austrian baritone and ensemble member of the Munich Gärtnerplatztheater Daniel Gutmann presents songs by Robert Schumann based on poems by Heinrich Heine with Maximilian Kromer, piano, on this CD. In addition to Schumann's most popular song cycle, "Dichterliebe" Op. 48, from which the title of this album, "Tränenflut", is taken, this recording also finds the "Liederkreis" Op. 24 with it's nine songs enter this compilation. In addition, Gutmann and Kromer interpret with "Belshazzar", Op. 57, and "Die zwei Grenadiere", Op. 49/1, Schumann's settings of two of the German poet's best-known ballads.

The Zentaur-Quartett, founded in 2017, is dedicated exclusively to contemporary music. The double album String Quartets by aDevantgarde Composers is the debut release of the young ensemble, whose members are graduates of the Munich University of Music and Theatre. The works collected on this album from the years 1997-2019 are a passionate plea for the string quartet genre and open up 13 very different musical worlds. The stylistic spectrum ranges from microtonal sound pieces to compositions with late Romantic echoes.
