Every once in a while, an album will come your way that both delights and impresses the ear. Like shooting stars, these are not completely rare occurrences but it's the fortunate person who gets to enjoy the experience… This album makes a statement and says a lot.

Haydn's keyboard sonatas, more than sixty in total, span almost his entire career. However, in the 1780's the genre became much less of a preoccupation for him while he concentrated more on string quartets and piano trios. An increasing number of commissions further added to his workload. Then, in the period when he was preparing for the second of his two visits to London (1794-5), we find the sonata genre crowded out by his other commitments. Nevertheless, the sonatas Hoboken XVI: 48 to 52 (1789-94) are among the most richly satisfying compositions of Haydn's full maturity.

Moroccan pianist Aïda Lahlou makes an exciting and noteworthy recording début with Mirrors and Echoes, released by Resonus Classics on 19 September 2025.

This notable album from Resonus Classics champions the rich, lyrical voice of Henriette Bosmans in a trio of concertante works and orchestral song. Cellist Gemma Rosefield brings deep emotional insight to both Poeme and the exquisite Second Concerto for cello, their expressive breadth deftly realised under George Vass's assured direction.

Disruption and displacement wasn't uncommon in 16th-and 17th-centuries Europe. During the Reformation, creative individuals, including composers, were often forced to conceal their identities - for reasons social, religious, ethnic, racial or otherwise. Yet despite - or perhaps due to - the disorder, musical styles and forms flourished, earning the era it's Renaissance designation and thus creating "Beauty in a Moment of Chaos".

My vision for this album was to create something that mirrors a classic vocal jazz record—featuring beloved standards—infused with the energy of a young rhythm section that shares my passion for the music. The members of my band and I have been playing together since we moved to New York City a couple of years ago.

In his debut, a five piece band unorthodox in its makeup of piano, voice, alto saxophone, guitar and drums brings to life a stirring volume of works composed by the bandleader, each of which evokes entirely unique worlds of color, texture and meaning.

The new album "If Not Now" by Clarinetist James Danderfer. Recorded at the legendary Rudy Van Gelder Studio. The music was composed over a focused few months and reflects a deeply personal snapshot of the artist's life–his family, his musical influences, and the players he was writing for. At the heart of the project is Danderfer's clarinet, guiding the narrative with warmth, lyricism, and clarity. Danderfer plays clarinet & bass clarinet. The first rate band features Steve Davis on trombone, Cory Weeds on tenor saxophone, Atley King on vibraphone, Miki Yamanaka o piano, Tyrone Allen on bass and Kush Abadey on drums.

Bass player and composer Noah Garabedian’s music wrestles with the tension and harmony between solitude and community — a push and pull at the core of his creative philosophy. “Community and socialization are essential ingredients to music, especially improvised music,” he says. “But as I have grown older, I have learned how to celebrate and cherish being alone; how to find comfort in being by yourself.”

Trombonist extraordinaire Michael Dease goes with the "Flow" for his 11th album for Posi-Tone. For this session Dease features some old friends, like alto saxophonist Sharel Cassity and pianist Geoffrey Keezer, while introducing the arrival of newcomers bassist Jared Beckstead-Craan and drummer Gary Kerkezou to his musical family.

The concept of these recordings is to give the listener the complete Groover experience as you would hear it live in a club. Many recordings today are limited for time so you don’t get the full experience of hearing solos develop and people stretching out like you do on live dates. And then there’s the energy of the audience feeding the band which I think is an essential part of playing music. These recordings were made as if we weren’t recording at all so the listener gets a completely uninhibited performance that sounds great.
