Some musical relationships require an ongoing effort, while others seem to function effortlessly from the very beginning. From their first meeting in 2009 on, the connection between the Italian guitarist Federico Casagrande and the French bass player Florent Nisse belonged to the latter category. Performing as a duo was a matter of when, not if.
This awareness led them to several years of collaborating in various musical contexts, when they realized that as a duo the most exciting, stimulating and creative situations were always improvised moments. The complete freedom brought by playing unplanned music allowed them to find new ways, and to build a continuously renewed dialogue. The time had come to record these explorations.
In the summer of 2020 they decided to book a studio, and to spend two days playing without any preconceived idea, any plan or safety nets. This album is the outcome.
