Five-time Grammy-winner Mary Chapin Carpenter’s 15th studio album, The Dirt And The Stars, finds the singer-songwriter pondering life’s intimate, personal moments and exploring its most universally challenging questions at an unprecedented time. Written at her rural Virginia farmhouse before stay-at-home orders became the “new normal,” the songs celebrate invaluable experiences and irreplaceable wisdom, while also advocating exploration of the best in all of us.

The beat on Kick Me Under the Table has a seething back-and-forth pace; the extraordinary For Her beds double Dutch skipping rope rhythms beneath a chorus of female voices.

This album was in production for almost a year and is a sort of a continuation of my last album, as it explores similar themes (although this time with words) of what it means to be human. Each song has its own subject that is in one way or another very personal to me, but I hope that whoever listens connects with them as well. This was also a production leap for me as I learned some important techniques that made me a better producer. We never stop learning, though… Hope you find inspiration in this. Barbara Carroll is an elegant jazz pianist, composer and vocalist, long recognized as one of the premier players of swinging jazz piano and expressive vocals. Her inventive piano playing and totally unique vocal sound leads her into transforming any composition into her own art with her trade-mark emotional directness and respect for the tune, its lyrics and its many possibilities. According to Stephen Holder of the New York Times, "Ms. Carroll plays with an impeccable technique in which harmonies burst into flower. In recent decades she has embraced singing in a parlando style that is witty, literate, discreetly sexy and at times heartbreakingly honest".

Pianist Javier Negrín and conductor Thomas Rösner return to Odradek in the company of the Beethoven Philharmonie, soprano Chen Reiss, tenor Jan Petryka and baritone Paul Armin Edelmann, to celebrate Beethoven's 250th anniversary year with a sumptuous album of rarely heard works.

The complete Mozart works for string trio in a new recording with the Jacques Thibaud String Trio: alongside the well-known Divertimento, K. 563, this album contains the Six Preludes and Fugues, K. 404a, as well as the fragment K. Anh. 66. This fragment and the Prelude and Fugue, K. 404a, No. 6 in F minor are available for download as free bonus tracks.

Theodor Leschetizky is a towering figure in the history of piano playing. Born in 1830, he studied in Vienna and began his career as a piano teacher when he was just fourteen. Having moved to St Petersburg in 1852, he enjoyed great success as a pianist which in turn boosted his popularity as a teacher. After returning to Vienna in 1878, he concentrated increasingly on teaching, becoming an internationally renowned and sought-after mentor to a large number of pianists. Although Leschetitzky was also active as a composer, his music is largely ignored nowadays, and in his liner notes Tobias Bigger relates how he came across it indirectly, through an interest in Ignaz Friedman, one of Leschetizky’s most famous students. Much of Leschetitzky’s production consists of character pieces for piano, and a closer study convinced Bigger of the particular qualities of many of them.
